What is ceramic
Ceramic is the art of creating objects in three different materials: porcelain, earthenware, and neighborhood. Ceramics is not only the discipline but the set of objects that are produced and the knowledge about these objects.
Then the cooking was implemented and more geometric models began to appear, and it was the birth of pottery, which is the art of creating earthenware vessels.
The first to apply advanced cooking techniques were the Chinese, and this knowledge later spread to the West. The materials and techniques that are developed in ceramics are:
Porcelain: it is a hard and translucent material that is usually white in color. It was developed by the Chinese between the 7th and 8th centuries
Cooked earth: it is the oldest form. It dates back to the 3rd century BC. It is modeled and fired clay.
Earthenware: these are more elaborate materials, linked to ceramics.
Best ceramic glues
If you want to glue some ceramic piece or even if you want to know how to glue broken ceramics and you do not know how here I will share the best glues for ceramics.
Resin glues
The resin glues come in two tubes. One is glue and the other is a hardener. When both components are mixed, the product solidifies. For medium jobs, the epoxy glue variety is used, which dries firmly in six hours. For very small things there is a variety that dries in about five or ten minutes.
If the pieces to be glued are large, there is a special epoxy ceramic adhesive that makes the joints practically invisible. They are more expensive and are recommended for quality work.
Polyvinyl acetate glue
This glue comes prepared in a single tube. It is the one that is generally used to stick terracotta objects. It is necessary to moisten the edge of the joints to avoid the absorption of the glue because otherwise, the bonding will weaken.
Cyanoacrylate glues
Also called super collages, they are widely used for pasture porcelain, that is, original porcelain.
How to use glue on different surfaces
Ceramic can be glued to different materials, but there are some basic issues to consider in each case. Learn here how to glue ceramics on different surfaces.
Wood
How to glue ceramics on wood? While it may be a bit more complicated, it is not impossible. Wood has the characteristic that it is a porous material, so this detail must be taken into account when choosing the correct glue.
Another point to consider is the direction in which the ceramic will be glued. It is not the same if you stick it on the wall as on a wooden floor or desk.
In this case, we recommend silicone-based cement. You must place it on the ceramic and keep it firm for a few minutes. It may take a while but it is my cash.
Wall
To glue ceramics on the wall, there is ceramic cement. Gluing ceramics or tiles on the floor is like gluing ceramics on the wall, you can use the same ceramic adhesive. It comes in different sizes and is the most widely used for covering bathrooms and kitchens.
Ceramics
To glue ceramic on ceramic, resin glues are the most suitable. Both surfaces must be well filed and clean so that the ceramic glue is effective and durable for ceramic coffee mug, plate, and bowl.
How to choose the best adhesive for ceramics
Before starting the adventure of installation, there are some things that you should take into account: what type of adhesive should we use depending on the type of ceramic that we are going to install? What glue is used to bond ceramics?
One of the most important things when installing both floor and wall ceramics is the adhesive to be used. It is necessary to know which adhesive will be needed according to the needs of both the area where it will be installed and the installer.
For starters, what is the adhesive?
It is the material used to adhere or glue the ceramic tile in the appropriate area, be it floor or wall. This material, when mixed with the correct amount of water, forms a paste that is placed both in the base area of the installation, already clean and of the same title free of impurities.
Let’s prepare the ceramic adhesive
The correct way to prepare the adhesive paste is very simple.
We open the adhesive packaging and place it in a container with clean water. The container must be of a considerable size, depending on the amount of mixture that we are going to prepare.
When we have already put the adhesive in the container with water, we will begin to stir until forming a perfect mixture. We will eliminate all the lumps that have formed. The mixture must maintain a pasty consistency, neither watery nor very thick.
In case the paste is very liquid, it will be necessary to add more adhesive. Similarly, if the pasta is very solid, we will add a little water. We must have a suitable consistency: creamy.
Before applying the adhesive, make sure the area is level and clean of grease, paint, or dust. We must remove all impurities from the floor or wall and the ceramic to ensure better adhesion of the materials. We will use the double application method, both on the surface and on the tile.
Ceramic Adhesive Types

AcrylPro, which you can learn about here, is a high-performance chew-type adhesive for interior installations on drywall, plywood, concrete, and existing ceramic. It is used on surfaces where a greater adhesion force is required. Also, it allows installing formats of up to 30 cm x 30 cm for both floor and wall. EBM-Lite Epoxy Adhesive

And, EBM-Lite provides anti-sag and anti-slip characteristics that allow the mortar to resist any type of irregularity and thus keep the tile or ceramic in place. 100% epoxy and solid, made with recycled materials, two components.

Cement-based adhesives are various. They are for low and no water absorption ceramic floors with formats up to 60 cm x 60 cm. The adhesive layer must not exceed 10 mm thick.
After learning about the different types of adhesives, you will know which one fits your needs. If you still have doubts, do not think about it so much and contact us through our social networks. Or, if you prefer, come to our stores where Interceramic experts will give you all the details you need.
What are the characteristics of the ceramic glue?
For starters, one of the main characteristics of these ceramic glues is that they do not have to be soluble in water since these materials are usually used as plates for food or glasses for different drinks.
In addition, currently, there are different methods to clean our dishes, such as dishwashers or manually, so it is important that the union lasts and does not dissolve in contact with the different cleaning products, as well as the water itself.
Another important fact of this type of adhesive is that they do not contain solvents, so they are non-toxic and can be used within the food and household sectors.
We all know the fragility of ceramics and porcelain, which at the time of breakage occur microcracks and is an area where dirt is accumulated largely certainly due to its porosity.
This fact causes ugly or grayish colors in the joints repaired with glue and, although it is difficult to avoid, it is possible to avoid it to a great extent simply by making the joint with glue as soon as possible.
If this is not possible, we recommend that you spread the edges with a bleaching liquid, such as hydrogen peroxide ( hydrogen peroxide of 110 volumes).
Finally, it should be noted that when ceramic or porcelain fragments are missing in the part to be repaired, it is possible to make a small mold by applying ceramic epoxy-type putties. Although we will talk about this at the end of the article.

I’m trying to repair the spout of my Chinese Tea pot spout that was broken off. I’m not sure which food glue/epoxy to use, Thank you in advance for any help you can give.
I have two electrodes, much like old spark plugs, way down here in New Zealand. The electrodes create a spark that ignites the burner that makes the steam. The steam cleaner is made in America. The steam cleaner ran faultlessly for 10 years until I employed a mechanic. The mechanic, obviously, wanted to know how the steam cleaner worked and so, before you know it, I have a steam cleaner that needs fixing. Mysteriously, suddenly, the ceramic portion of the electrodes broke. I ordered another and, after 4 weeks it arrived, it came a long way. I didn’t give it the importance it deserved and its replacement broke at which point I did get involved. I glued the porcelain part of the broken electrode and wrapped the repaid in some insulating tape and this repair worked for a week.
My question is, is there a good glue to use that can handle the high temperature of this application? Sorry for the long story, but any thoughts please? (I will order a replacement, but that is hard to do because the manufacturer sees it of low importance.
